Do you own a Pye Black Box? Do you want to play your old 45 records again or listen to your vinyl LPs or even your 78s? If you have a Pye Black Box valve record player in need of repair, then you've come to the right place. I specialize in Pye record player repairs. Contact me and we'll talk about your Pye Black Box.
Some Pye Black Box record players use BSR decks with 40mm diameter idler wheels. A worn idler wheel causes the turn table to run slow when a record is playing, or even grind to a halt during the auto change process. When I service a BSR deck, I always replace the 40mm idler wheel as a matter of course.
DO YOU ONLY WANT TO SEND ME THE RECORD DECK FOR SERVICING? You might want to send me the record deck for servicing rather than the whole record player. Most Pye Black Box decks simply have two screws holding them to the wooden plinth. These should be removed, enabling the deck to be lifted clear of the plinth and the connecting leads unplugged. Disconnect the Pye Black Box from the mains supply before attempting to remove the record deck. The wires from the deck simply unplug from the amplifier.
To remove the amplifier, start by removing the record deck as described above. Then remove the two knobs which are either pushed onto the shafts or held in place with small grub screws. Remove the screws from beneath the cabinet which secure the amplifier chassis. Remove the mains plug and pull the lead through the hole in the rear of the cabinet. Unplug the loudspeaker from the amplifier chassis and lift the chassis clear of the cabinet. Pye Black Box service manual HERE
